I tell my adult children not to yearn for anything too strongly but rather to fortify the self such that we invite the positive. Rather than become desperate for the things we think we want, we let life come to us organically while feasting on the present moment.
We can make plans but not become too disappointed when life's organic messiness perturbs them.
