It's almost the end of 2024 and I am in a reflective mood. Reaching this age can potentially leave you dismissive and cynical and yet I am not. I have hope that the world will be fine; that there are enough checks and balances built in that allow us to keep our worst instincts sufficiently subdued.
What is interesting is that as my personal life has improved the global climate has worsened. But what helps keep my spirits up is dealing with people at the ground level and meeting them where they are. If I have a little wisdom to share I am happy to do it plus they teach me about both tolerance and patience.
A life without challenges and introspection is one with less personal growth. We don't just want to exist but to live. This does not mean burning the candle at both ends and never looking up but to live in the moment and be truly present to it; to observe the little details which bring us closer to the best parts of our humanity which is where we find true connection.
Merry Christmas.
