Shiva Baby

Shiva Baby jangles the nerves and it isn't just due to the atonal and sharp violin jabs which serve as soundtrack. Danielle is young, adventurous, flirty and sexuallly explores with both genders. Her anxious manner does make for uncomfortable viewing and her having an affair with a married man coincides at this event where his sudden presence jolts her. The man's wife even senses that something is distinctly off regarding how they happen to know each other.

Everything comes to a head at this uncomfortable setting where her ex-girlfriend happens to also be there and still pines for her.

Maybe it's GenZ angst and the power that we helicopter parents gave them. Danielle feels she has the license to act as she pleases and yet there is a deep sense of discomfort inside of her as she searches for identity.
The distinction between the phony and the genuine contrasts sharply at this Shiva which acts as symbol and setting for what ails us all.

Very highly recommended.
