It can be very off-putting when people use the excuse that they don't understand something as defense for not accepting it. Their obligation isn't to comprehend it but to take the person at their word.
The sentiment can of course be expressed but it should not be a prerequisite for embracing. We simply accept that this is who the person is.The problem comes when we ourselves accept that the other person must understand and we proceed to explain something so deeply rooted that no amount of words will suffice. For they will never share it.
How can they comprehend something that you do not entirely yourself.
