Integrity and rationality

It turns out that morals and integrity are not all that important in politics; not just among politicians themselves but also among the voting public.

Years ago I could never have envisioned a scenario where someone with a rap sheet like Trump's could have ascended to the presidency but that was before I knew how human psychology truly worked and how much critical thinking and education was lacking in society.

Today I know people who are professionals in their fields who hold ideas I find uniquely bizarre. It turns out that being educated in one special field does not make you proficient in other areas. Some hold conspiracy theories dear or have religious ideas that contrast sharply with what you had imagined was the capacity of their intellect.

Having beliefs and adopting faith must always be tempered with rationality and logic such that you can explain them to others but above all to ourselves.

In retrospect, presidential immunity was a monumentally stupid mistake......
