One thing I have noticed with transgender and non-conforming youth is that they aren't necessarily all stuck on the idea of aspiring to stay within the gender binary. What I mean is that "passing" or being regarded as one of the two sexes is less a goal than simply being authentic. This means that some are not at all worried about looking more androgynous and being accepted on their own terms by being free of previous binary constraints.
Also, one of today's more interesting realities is that I am far less likely to identify a young transgender woman simply because she will have started her transition so early as to seamlessly blend into the fabric of society without detection. This applies to young transgender men as well.
Youth today adopts a blend of expression and identities openly and free of shame and stigma. This is true regardless of whether they aim to fit within the gender binary or snub their nose at it and go their own way somewhere in between.
The overarching point is that they don't care what you think and God bless them for it.
