Life is only understood in retrospect and we sometimes look back and wonder how we were able to fend for ourselves without the knowledge we possess today. Perhaps that's a good thing because too much information regarding life's inner workings might have made us think the better of things and not leap. Without that eventual burning of the fingers we would then not be the person we are today.
I wouldn't trade my brain at 60 with all its experience for anything and am not one of those people who looks back at their mid twenties with rose colored myopia. Yes, there is a joy to be had at every stage and we should savor them except that when younger we don't seem to know how to look inward and slow the mind sufficiently to be able to do so.
