Before jumping in

Yes, I write from the vantage point of a transgender person but what I am most interested in is shared human experience since, to varying degrees, everyone has something about them which is different.

Ultimately the answer to healthy living is about finding a strong sense of self which relies on well placed instinct. If I had listened to outside voices regarding what to do with my life, I most assuredly would have erred and whatever mistakes I committed were honest ones and I have only myself to blame. In fact, some of those decisions were necessary for me to draw a lesson which I now chalk up to a reality of life.

Being your own person and avoiding crowd mentality is ultimately what strengthens self-esteem which is why I don't care about anyone's identity or background provided they are a solid individual. It is what I have always taught my children which coupled with critical thinking will serve them well in life.

I tell them to examine everything from a distance first before jumping in with both feet.
