Points of view

When you talk to other transgender people in a group setting it is fascinating to hear their differences of opinion. They often don't agree on many of the nuances inherent in the subject matter which makes sense since it is a deeply layered and complex one.

One of the reasons I am walking away from thinking any further about the science is that the cultural repercussions are so much more relevant today. Also, as I have discovered over the years, most people can't distinguish between forms of gender variance so it does little good to spend further energy there.

So I soak in the different viewpoints and chalk them up to variations in lived experience as well as the instructional programming each received. There are also generational gaps which cannot be denied play a part as well.

In fact, if everyone were in lockstep I would have been deeply surprised.
