Five alarm fire

The speaker of the house of the United States believes that dinosaurs were on the mythical ark of Moses. This is not a joke.

The rise of Christian nationalists in the GOP has been steadily a worrisome trend for many Americans who aren't as bat shit crazy. The party of Lincoln and the emancipation of slaves is not even recognizable with the early 80's beginning a spiral into a brand of cultural conservatism which has helped lead to the likes of Mike Johnson.

If many Americans were lulled into thinking that they were exceptional they have, after 8 years of Trumpism, gotten a wakeup call. Radical ideas fed by social media echo chambers have entered the mainstream and threaten to derail a democracy that, although far from perfect, at least kept the country going with bipartisanship as a given if imperfect method to advance their nation.
