I am increasingly open with people. Whether they know Joanna is transgender or not it doesn't matter as am I being completely truthful about the things I discuss. It has taken a lot of pressure off the shoulders compared to how I used to live.
Living openly is the best call I ever made but for the longest time it wasn't a remotely obvious call. I had to get here in tiny steps to the point where the result finally became a foregone conclusion instead of a forced and rushed one. It's why I always like to think that caution is the better part of valor where you lay the groundwork slowly and methodically to avoid pitfalls.Since being transgender or transsexual isn't a choice, the only alternative you do have involves living with as much integrity and dignity as possible.
