I smiled

She was probably 6'5" including her bootie heels and stood next to me on the metro platform on this Saturday morning with her girlfriend. Not yet 30, confident and ebullient in her own skin, my insides bubbled with happiness for her. Of course I said nothing but I wanted to. I wanted to tell her how glad I was that she had avoided so much programming and how each of us represented very distinctly different eras.

She stepped into the metro car and couldn't give a hoot who stared but people didn't for they detected and saw pure confidence devoid of any cockiness or arrogance. 

I just smiled and watched her get off at the next station hand in hand with her partner.
