Stupid people

Gender has become a huge political football particularly of late because many people are hateful idiots. If all of us applied common sense and empathy there wouldn't be so much drama. We would have equality between men and women plus tolerance for diversity for those who invariably will deviate from standard societal norms and have always existed 

Of course we can't have that because that would make us a decent and wise race of beings which overall we aren't. 

When I view content dealing with gender variance it is often all over the map. Opinions fly left and right trying to sell some conclusion which ultimately won't change real life. The point always being about how to suppress or uplift something without changing its fundamental reality.

People used to live in closets and now they don't as much which didn't change the demographics as much as just expose them to the light. Before things just stayed underground where they could be ignored. 

But human beings love controversy and drama plus not minding their own business which is a perfect recipe for screwing things up. The subject of transgender people in sport, as example, is the perfect lightning rod which the right wing loved to trot out to emphasize their "woke mind virus" moral panic. 

Never mind that the amount of trans atheletes is a tiny sliver of an already very small percentage of the population, but also there are stringent guidelines which exist already to ensure fairness despite the fact that there are already differences in strength and ability between individuals regardless of birth sex. 

John Oliver recently used his customary witty humor to explain the subtleties of the subject on a recent extended segment which drew ire from the usual suspects. The reason is that it was brilliant,  nuanced and made fun of situations where no atheletes even exist in a state and yet there are laws on the books just to turn the knife in the wound of people who just want to be left alone and lead their lives. 

Stupid people have historically caused most of our suffering in the world because they lack perspective, critical thinking and often empathy which one needs most before attacking a subject one doesn't understand. 

In fact, gender, race and religion have been responsible for the lion share of suffering in this world at the hands of stupidity which seems to be a permanent feature among humans and not a bug.
