Trust

Are people trustworthy? The short answer is yes but the long answer is no. The reason for this is that we can be enigmas even onto ourselves and will do things in our lives that surprise us. Therefore if you are banking on someone fully better to bank on yourself warts and all.

I don't easily get disappointed by people any longer because once you understand basic human psychology their actions will seem less of a letdown. We can see how some fundamental wiring had them do something you could have erroneously perceived as a slight against us.

The sooner we let go of high expectations that others will solve our problems the better off we will be. We can help them solve theirs and keep our own high bar for ourselves but let them deal with their own internal conflicts which lower theirs.

All the while we protect our integrity and self-respect.

My thinking on this has been developed slowly over my life after having had overly optimistic ideas about human behaviour.
