"Professor Dave Explains" is a youtube channel dealing with debunking science deniers and charlatans. It's fascinating stuff and this installment dealt with the appearance of Eric Weinstein and theoretical physicist Sean Carroll on Piers Morgan's right wing agenda program.
Weinstein is a mathematician by education, is clearly very intelligent and yet is on the payroll of tech billionaire and JD Vance mentor Peter Thiel to act as a publicist for why academia is failing society. In other words, stop funding ivory tower "do nothings" which is very much a push from the political right.
Here Carroll sits patiently and humbly while Weinstein spins heads with advanced physics jargon which is supposed to substitute for his lack of credentials as a published scientist. When finally given his turn, Carroll undresses Weinstein with his expertise.
This whole episode is a perfect illustration of the problem we face today with social media and its optics.
Weinstein is a favorite on Joe Rogan where he can cast spells but not so much on subject matter experts like Carroll.
