What makes us human

Today, particularly in the western world, the gap between men and women has never been narrower which is why the right wing is up in arms. 

If I just look at my last company, men and women work side by side with a livel of equality that didn't exist when I began my career. The push for diversity and inclusion is everywhere and the current pushback in the US won't stop it because it is too late for that. 

I have discovered for myself that living as a man or a woman on a daily basis is not that much different especially when one is retired. The same hopes, fears and aspirations exist for everyone which different clothes and a bit of makeup won't change. If anything you feel more cohesive in your skin because you have addressed a gap which existed within you. You now allow yourself behaviour and mannerisms which came natural to you but suppressed.

Nevertheless, what makes us human is universal and exists below our external shell.
