If Jesus came back

James Talarico from Texas appeared recently on Joe Rogan and the comment section could have me despair if I didn't already know there were so many unwise and unkind people in the world.

Talarico is a Democrat but also a man of faith who preaches charity and compassion. He believes strongly in a separation of church and state and that the government has no right dictating morality on people. He supports women's bodily autonomy and LGBTQ rights which of course went over with the Rogan audience like a lead balloon.

Rogan has a right leaning audience who seem to embrace the kind of Christian nationalism which preaches both judgment and the blurring of politics and religion. These people can't be helped and will always exist and you just need to out vote them. The US is going to be increasingly hard pressed to do so in their current toxic environment.

If Jesus came back and planted himself in the southern states he would be identified as a false prophet and crucified all over again for being a bleeding heart liberal who cares too much for the disenfranchised.

Of that I have little doubt.
