Venn diagram

My sister called me yesterday because my brother-in-law had suggested mentioning me during the welcome part of the upcoming father of the groom wedding speech. Besides the out of town guests, he was going say a special welcome to Joanna. 

My sister suspected I wouldn't want that and she was correct. She put me on speaker and I told them that their support was more than enough. I'm not special and for me just attending was another green checkmark. 

Family will surprise you both ways because people are who they are. We talked about our history and how we grew up in a house with love but not a lot of demonstrable affection. My parents were creatures of their era.

Even a year ago I would have had trepidation attending a big family affair because my new life largely resides outside the old one. Yes, there is a Venn diagram of overlap but it was anchored in one on one coffees and lunches. 

This was different.

The clothes are ready but, far more importantly, so is the psychology.
