Gender fluidity

I don't know why I am so turned off by the concept of gender fluidity. Maybe because I don't understand it viscerally and cannot relate.

I don't want to be two people, I want to be one and when someone talks about two personas I reject it outright.

I have always thought about my situation as someone coming to terms with who they are progressively over a lifetime but always being the same person. I don't have two people living in me and I behave the same way all the time.

Young transgender people don't need to live for years in one presentation and then switch. They won't be forced to reconcile a previous life with a new one. They will just have one.

If I were young today knowing what I know I would simply medically transition and be done with it. My compromise solution as an older person, however, has worked.

  1. I considered myself to be gender fluid for a short time. In hindsight it was because I was afraid of admitting I was transgender. I think there are a number of people that fall into that category. So I progressed from "crossdresser" (bare with me) to gender fluid to transgender.

I am currently living as a non-transitioning transgender person. I put on a "guy costume" when I need/forced to. But I am always Christina. I know this. We'll see how I progress over time as it relates to transitioning.

    1. I think that this is a very healthy approach when it comes to your psychology. You are always the same person adjusting a presentation which may shift over time. One of the reasons I really dislike the "crossdressing" label is that it can encourage a split personality and also minimize what the person is doing even as I acknowledge that everyone is different and views their combination of expression and identity through a unique lens. Sounds like you are on a positive path similar to where I used to be before coming to a baseline
