I wasn't going to post a picture of the dress I am wearing today at the wedding. The photo below was just a test for me to make sure the length and fit were right. Besides, my blog is about everything else besides clothes.
What used to be a holy grail when I was a child no longer has the mythic proportions in my head.
I want to always be understated and disappear into the crowd. So I think: how do I show a sense of celebration of the occasion without going overboard and since I am already tall I don't need to advertise my presence. The jewelery I add will also take on a decidedly subtle tone.
The dress represents an idea and is not a thing on its own. It is a testament to how far I have come in owning my identity as a transgender person who needs to live honestly. The fact that it is purchased in a thrift store drives that message home even more.
Nothing more; nothing less.
