Intellectual dishonesty

There is almost nothing worse than intellectual dishonesty.

Over at Crossdreamers Jack Molay has been dealing with trolling over his most recent article which I told him I thought I would address here.

The anonymous poster takes the stance that transgender women are like any other men by virtue of some thinking I cannot comprehend since 98% of natal males aren't born with persistent gender dysphoria. Right off the bat we are dealing with intellectual dishonesty since no one asks to have it not to mention that not everyone deals with it via gender transition.

No one who is happy being a man transitions for shits and giggles. Therefore the presumption of this poster must be that being transgender is a concious decision instead of the reality of an intrinsic disconnect.

That these transphobes are doggedly persistent is an understatement and their tone and tenacity speaks about underlying personal issues which the majority of people do not have.

Why someone experiences gender dysphoria and where it is sourced is still mostly a mystery and by not acknowledging this fact you are not being honest since it is by far the most important piece of the puzzle.

  1. I suspect this troll is so persistent is that my article triggered some kind of self awareness they cannot live with.

In the article I pointed out that transphobia, like all hateful bigotry, grows out of anxiety caused by the unpredictability of life.

While many adults are able to live with this uncertainty, finding strength and comfort in friendships and love, some people - the ones I call the fearful - seek refuge in simplistic and seemingly predictable models of reality.

They find their place this idea of the safe community, and playing this role gives them the affirmation they seek. They are the "normal" ones, while anyone who do not follow the creed of their tribe is weird, an outcast and a threat to the world order they need.

The anonymous commenter over at my blog feels extremely threatened by my approach, because it reveals that they pseudo-scientific nonsense is not based in facts, but in their own insecurities.

"Anonymous" desperately need me to response to their harassment, because they believe that that would imply some kind of respect from my side - that I see them as an equal discussion partner. I do not. They are a bully, plain and simple.

    1. When their world view is threatened some lash out rather than accept the introduction of doubt that not everything can be neatly tied with a bow. Their orthodoxy has been perturbed and the tactic is to attack the messenger rather than allow for the possibility that they are wrong
