Brash

I am always skeptical of seeing brashness and overconfidence in a very young person for they are only asking to be straightened out by life later. I am more of a believer in a shyness just potent enough to allow for learning about how life works and how cruel it can sometimes be.

From what I see now, generation Alpha has an abundance of bravado and will talk back at the drop of hat with frustrated teachers unsure about what to do. Their parents will sweep in at the slightest correction of their child because they don't possess the instinct my parents did for sometimes letting the school of hard knocks be an ally.

I talk to my children about this who appreciated being dealt with in a more adult way because we needed to think about their developing skills for when we are no longer here to protect them.

They were timid but reflective.
