Secular humanism is the philosophy whereby humankind is able establish a social order and morality without the belief in a higher power. While this sounds feasible I don't think it is because a substantial portion of the population is only comfortable with black and white certainty and removing it would send then into panic.
We don't know much about our creation no matter what any scientist tells you. What we have are fragments of information that we have pieced together and we talk about an expanding universe and a big bang while leaving a huge hole to fill.I am not an atheist by any means but someone who purports to be would use logic and intellectual honesty and admit the best position to adopt is one of agnosticism. But clearly, humanism on its own wouldn't work and I need only look around and see the fervent orthodoxy of some believers to tell me so.
