My guess is that they are still questioning themselves. I know for me, there was a tipping point where I wasn't crossdressing and instead was just "putting on my clothes." This was like 2 years after I came out to myself. That's when I learned something I thought might be a "hobby" was more than that. It is just something one has to go through over time. -Christina
Yes I agree. My point was that you are not crossing over into anything. You are yourself and it is your identity and your clothing. Of course there are people for whom this is indeed a hobby and sometimes I like to pose questions in a way that has people reflect.
In the end I do find the description simplistic and limiting because it isn't universal to both sexes (both natal males and females express gender variance). In essence it is now an anachronism regardless of how strong your feelings are and what your primary motivation is
