A melding

I will be sitting in a metro car and realize that the gender distinctions are almost at a minimal. It's a sea of jeans and earth tone jackets where maybe the odd female will be distinctly discernible in breaking ranks. We have become more unisex in our garb.

This is not that surprising as gender norms have relaxed to the point where the innate masculine and feminine energies which are decoupled from birth sex are allowed to shine through. The net result is that I see an androgynous wash of people where it is not always clear what gender one is looking at.

Contrast that to the 1950's where gender was worn almost as obligatory badge. One advertised their sex even if that very act came at the chagrin of those who detested its enforcing.

Not only that but we have relaxed our sartorial formality to the point where I am sometimes lauded for my taste by women despite being dressed extremely casually. It's just that I am not wearing sweat pants and maybe have a little makeup and earrings on.

Different world.
