Pockets of joy

When you come to the realization that humanity isn't fixable it can be a letdown. The optimistic ideals of youth that we would become increasingly enlightened fades with age and experience which is why our internal work becomes so important. 

People have behaved the same way for millenia and will continue to for as long as we exist on this earth. The same hopes, fears and aspirations drive them and within society the same bad faith actors and charlatans will continue to operate as they always have. They will prey on the most susceptible. 

We are fundamentally emotional sheep who seek comfort within the herd but every grouping has mavericks who want out to make their own path. That is universal and unchangeable unless they find a new operating system for humans. 

My job now is to make sense of my life within the disappointment by finding those little pockets of joy, goodness and intelligence which are everywhere if we just notice them.
