The same

Donald Trump personifies stupidity and now the consequences of electing him twice are more dire than ever. 

As war looms between Israel and Iran, he jokes about whether he will enter the conflict and help destroy the nuclear facilities of a sovereign nation that is easy to vilify. It's of course a distraction from his abysmal performance at home and red meat to an ill-informed base which grows increasingly restless as his unrealistic election promises remain unfilulfilled. 

If the US enters yet another Middle East conflict they are toast. The bill trying to make its way through the senate would add 3.4 trillion to the national debt and a war would only make things worse. Think about Iraq and Afghanistan and how long it took to extricate the US military presence from those nations. The cost in terms of lives and money was extremely high. 

As the situation in Gaza continues to fester, both Trump and Netenyahu need rallying support from people who feed off jingoistic instinct to feed national pride. 

When I was young I didn't comprehend human machinations the way I do now; how the calculating manipulate the hapless masses through propaganda until disaster strikes and the damage collapses nations. When the Spanish and Roman empires collapsed both suffered overreach before they imploded and the same is happening here.

It's always the same because people are the same.
