Continuum

Sex and gender are distinct and both reside on a continuum. On the sex front we have all kinds of intersex conditions where ambiguous genitalia and chromosome anomalies defy the concept of the perfect binary. 

On the gender front we have liberated expression and identity which means that youth openly flaunt rules that used to keep people trapped into distinct silos. These kids come in different shades and not all of them identify as transgender. The common theme between them is that they live openly and unabashedly as themselves. 

Gender criticals are continually flummoxed because they need to maintain the attack in a battle they are losing to a population that increasingly doesn't care and even has gender variant people within their own families. 

Their "Transgender ideology" descriptor presumes that there is a global cabal hell bent on destroying society when in reality we have freed people to become more genuine versions of themselves. The ideology actually comes from the criticals because gender variance plays against the world view they espouse; one where the natural divergences of people are simply stomped out by force. If that isn't ideology I don't know what is since biology everywhere else operates on a continuum.

There is no social contagion but instead of revealing of a spectrum which has always existed but was suppressed from view and we have simply lifted the shroud. We used to hit people with rulers who used their left hand to write until we stopped and left handedness invariably went up.

Human beings are complex as are their proclivities and inclinations. To assume otherwise is simply being willfully ignorant.
