Tariffs begin in earnest tomorrow in the US and TACO has set Brazil's tariffs at 50% which means whoever likes their coffee from there will see the price shoot up.
Suppliers up to now were selling inventory but as those stocks disappear the consumer will get hit very badly. Whoever didn't understand who pays tariffs will understand it very soon as it hits their pocketbook.
In the meantime Republicans are trying to redistrict Texas so they can gain seats for the midterms. If you can't win fairly then cheat. Governors Newsom and Pritzker have been threatening to do the same in California and Illinois.
Neal katyal is arguing before the courts that TACO cannot impose tariffs without congress who is the only body with the power to do that. Too bad this awful supreme court gave TACO all that power.
Katyal will have to argue in front of an 11 judge panel in Washington DC that this is not war time and TACO cannot bypass congress. If he succeeds it's bye bye tariffs for TACO but I highly doubt that he will convince the judges given the supreme court's bad move.
No president has ever been given the power to tariff and certainly no one close to being as painfully stupid as Trump should ever have it.
