An identity cannot be faked and, while we can modify the external shell, it is the internal self that will most affect everything about us. If we understand who we are, the movements, the expression, the confidence and the aura will show clearly to the rest of the world.
If I put someone in a costume it will show because they know they are in a costume. They cannot adopt something which is foreign as if it were a second skin. Yes they can have fun with it but it won't feel like who they are; as if they are not presenting the real them.
No amount of clothing or makeup can provide us with identity but it can form part of the expression of who we are. Without that internal work it might always feel a little uncomfortable and inauthentic.
Long before I had gone deep into the psyche I used to work on faking it but it never worked properly because until I believed in who I was, I wasn't going to convince anyone else. The external presentation was there but not the psychology.
Before labeling yourself figure out who you are first.
