The official transgender as illness model isn't new. It dates back to the 1980's with the work of Freund and Blanchard and when I googled Sasha Ayad's name it led me to her other channel where she parrots all the usual talking points on AGP and other trappings from his original work.
I was almost fooled by Ayad's approach at first as she was advertising her new channel as wanting an open discussion and a "no dogma" approach only to discover that she is very much into dogma. I suspect it's a kind of soft pedaled conversion therapy that she's after as Jack Molay suggested.
Do some people err when they transition? Yes. Is transition for everyone? No. However gender non-conformance isn't an illness and doesn't need curing and intervention should be on an "as required" basis. For some people their gender variance is almost pure expression and requires nothing but elimination of shame, guilt and secrecy.
Ayad has appeared on many toxic channels (like Benjamin Boyce's who is positively obsessed with trans people) and has been associated with Lisa Littman's rapid onset gender dysphoria theory which sells social contagion the way the gay moral panic used to be trumpeted. If you hang around with transgender youth apparently they will infect others.
The truth is that gender variance has been a permanent fixture in societies since the dawn of civilization. We can either leave people in peace or harass them until they are forced underground or to conform.
Not gonna happen now but they keep trying anyway.
It is truly tragic to see how some cis women actively cisplains what being trans truly are, using whatever toxic theory is at hand in the process.
