Whatever is right for us should improve quality of life. It should make us a calmer and more peaceful person regardless of what it is. Mental health and self-esteem should ideally also benefit.
This is the only guideline we should use provided that whatever decision we take doesn't harm the physical well being of others.
Sometimes what we view as being right for us is frowned upon by society which isn't our problem. That is society's problem.
This all sounds easier than it is but it's the truth.
