Ray Williams interviewed Ray Blanchard recently on his channel. I don't have the stomach to watch it but I remarked how far he came over 8 years from being transgender philosopher Rachel to detransitioner Ray who now champions 1980's conjecture. 

The DSM says we need to suffer distress to have a paraphilia and many who say they have AGP admit that it's making their life quality worse. Their self-identified fetish is bringing them distress. 

But what about people who don't have distress and transition. Do they also suffer from AGP? and therein lies Blanchard's problem who for his theory to work tried to lump everyone who isn't homosexual and wants to transition into one bucket. He turned AGP into a sexual orientation which after the initial buzz is gone turns down the excitement to what being married for 10 years feels like. Except now it's being married to yourself.

If nothing else, you have to admire Blanchard's determination to discredit transgender people.

Williams freely admits that it was primarily a sexual thing which explains why transition didn't work for him. He wasn't respecting an internal identity which is why he ultimately detransitioned. 

However, what he believes to be true or not is less important than his being in a better place.
