Excess

Gender criticals often point to excesses within the gender variant community and there is indeed a portion which celebrates that way but then they forget how a little narcissism does not really play favorites and exists well outside the world of gender variance.

The scantily clad over the top husband in the micro skirt sitting next to a tolerant wife at a gathering of the like minded becomes an easy target for transphobes. For them it's luscious low hanging fruit and admittedly it grated on my nerves as well for a time until it sunk in that people do their best to express what is inside of them even if clumsily. In fact the reason that Dylan Mulvaney became a target was largely due to what many determined was her deliberate over the top caricature of a "real woman".

I look at all people and their own preferences and little excesses and draw the exact same parallels because our proclivities are colored heavily by how we grew up, the parenting style we were exposed to plus our uniqueness.

Now I simply think that we are all doing our best and that this is good enough.
