Measuring up

Someone recently complained to a gender therapist that they weren't getting support from the transgender community. They had been told by some that they weren't feminine enough and one person even told them they were an embarrassment to others in the community.

To fail to understand this phenomenon is to not comprehend human nature.

Many people make up for their self-esteem shortfalls via comparison. Thus someone else not measuring up to some standard is an opportunity to elevate themselves by thinking that at the very least they are ahead of that other person. It's one of the reasons I don't generally adhere to group think or communities.

Transgender people are no more apt to be better people than anyone else which is why I don't care about a person's background. I care about whether the person is solid; that they are kind, charitable and compassionate. If I were to think otherwise would mean assuming that transgender people are somehow endowed with better natures than the rest of the human population.

When I first saw Blaire White's content, my insecurity detector started beeping red alert and never stopped and she is hardly alone.
