How to marry pseudo to science

Ray Blanchard had to try very hard to sell his ideas and so he fashioned convenient "evidence" to make it all work. In the process he ended up putting the preface pseudo in front of science.

With gynephilic transsexuals it was particularly hard because he had two issues to deal with. The first was stories from his patients of early childhood identification with being a girl while the second was how to sell sexual dysfunction when the sex part wanes over time and yet the identification remains unaffected.

Simple.

For the first problem he accused his patients of lying while for the second he simply said that AGP was a kind of sexual orientation which, like being married to someone for a long time, tends to produce the result of lowered sexual interest.

Et voila! problems solved.

However, anyone with even the most basic deduction skills and critical thinking can see through this sleight of hand n'est ce pas? And yet there are still adoring dumdums who love him because he feeds into their agendas.

Ah, the power of positive thinking and self persuasion when you really need to get to a desired conclusion. Too bad for him some of us aren't idiots.
